ABOUT ME

I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1987, employed by the NHS mostly with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, CAMHS. During that time I've trained in a variety of therapies including Solution Focus Therapy, Mindfulness and Creative Therapies. Whilst managing an inpatient unit, I undertook a degree in Complementary Health Studies.

I completed a year long foundation course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT, with Plymouth University in 2007. More recently I completed the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, IAPT training, at masters level, with Exeter University in both CBT and Supervision in 2014 and 2017. Whilst I have worked primarily with young people and their families I am also happy to work with adults.

I believe that the most important part of any therapy is the therapeutic alliance, working alongside people to empower them to achieve their goals and facilitate change.

I specialise in a range of Mood and Anxiety disorders, as well as particular issues, including:

  • Agoraphobia

  • Confidence

  • Depression

  • Eating difficulties

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Panic attacks

  • Parenting

  • Performance Anxiety

  • Self-esteem

  • Separation Anxiety

  • Social Anxiety

  • Specific phobias
